Welcome Home 02:38
Dirty dishes piled high Must be halfway to the sky Welcome home Welcome home Welcome home Welcome home Guess it’s time to get to work A little time at home couldn’t hurt Guess it’s time to roll up my sleeves Finally take down the Christmas tree See the dust in morning light Never noticed it at night Welcome home Welcome home Welcome home Welcome home Guess it’s time to get to work A little time at home couldn’t hurt… Guess it’s time to roll up my sleeves Finally time to rake the leaves

What I Got 03:21
My backyard is a parking lot And another apartment building, too I don’t know anyone who lives there But there was this one time, One guy was standing on the balcony Talking to me I got home from a gig out of state He must have seen my guitar case He said, “We should jam sometime” “I know all the words to ‘What I Got’ by Sublime Let’s jam sometime” Someday I’ll have a big backyard Maybe a dog, and a new guitar Right now I’ve got a man on a balcony Talking to me I ain’t saying they paved paradise To put up my backyard parking lot I live here ‘cause it’s cheap Joni probably wouldn’t want me living in debt I bet My backyard is a parking lot Ain’t what I want It’s What I Got

She sits on the front porch Smoking a cigarette Talking about regrets Little dog barking as I walk by Little dog barking at the chain links Little dog can’t hear his owner She’s got an electric larynx I switch to the other side of the street Muttering to my feet about the dog’s Napoleon complex Little dog barking as I walk by Little dog barking at the chain links Little dog can’t hear his owner She’s got an electric larynx I stroll further down the road Listening to her voice try to get him under control “Quit it, baby…”

Rain coming down today Rain coming down tomorrow Rain coming down every day this week If I would take a bet, I’d bet the roof is gonna leak Rain coming down today Probably rain forever Rain coming down ‘til everything is mud If I would take a bet, I’d bet the basement’s gonna flood Nothing changes ‘til it does Drought for ages, or endless flood My mind is dark and grey My mind is clouds and trouble I haven’t pulled the curtains yet today If I would take a bet, I’d bet the rain is here to stay Nothing changes ‘til it does Drought for ages, or endless flood

Take a little drive to the quiet corner You been home a bit too much Sunshine does a body good And mine’s been collecting dust Stretch your legs with Evalina, buy an ice cream cone The future’s bright and beautiful And the clouds are finally gone There’s a road sign that we recognize And a freshness in the air And there’s a castle down in Woodstock With a rich man living there It’s surrounded by a wall of trees So tall you can’t see through It’s a Cinderella daydream But it ain’t for me and you Continue on to visit Anne and say a little prayer She wants to hug and hold your hand and show you that she cares But you can’t hug from six feet out, so we’ll just keep apart It was nice to see you, Anne, but now we’re headed for the car Take a little drive to the quiet corner It might just clear your mind I’m not sure what you’re looking for But I know what you’ll find You’ll find love and you’ll find peace As you drive your car around Yeah, you might just find your future In that quiet, little town

Wake up Coffee cup Use the pink one for good luck Grab a pick Strum a chord Who’s that knocking on my door? It’s Allen Good morning Yes, I suppose that 9 a.m. Is a bit too early for guitar playing So put it down Grab some shoes Walk downtown to sing my blues Past the mill All closed down Luxury apartments now In Rockville Good morning Good morning, Rockville! Kids are playing in the river Cold enough to make them shiver Living free, not a care Someone’s dad is watching them Got a look that says that he Would rather be anywhere Take a right Up the street Count the dogs that bark at me Check the time Double back Look who’s taking out the trash Good morning, Allen... Oven clock says 10:03 Sounds late enough for guitar to me...

Mary 02:48
Mary says she’s proud of me Proud that I got my degree Graduate by 23 and do yourself a favor Mary sits at the top of the stairs Maybe Mary’s unaware She says “hi” as I squeeze through Then on the phone says, “Mom, not you…” “I was talking to my neighbor” Mary sits, smoking weed I got somewhere else to be But I stop and talk, despite the time Mary says she’s doing fine Mary’s proud of Mary, too Even when she’s feeling blue She’s got troubles, I do, too But they ain’t gonna get her One day Mary calls my name There’s a story that she can’t contain A lady was in desperate need And Mary bought her groceries And made the planet better Mary works, I’m asleep She takes third shift to make ends meet Calls her mom every day Staying close from far away I been living selfishly But Mary thinks the best of me I’m thinking, as I’m squeezing through Mary, I’m so proud of you

Down by the Hockanum For the whole month of June Each night, after sunset By the light of the moon For two or three hours If you take in the view You’ll see the fireworks In red, white, and blue At first, I was annoyed It’s not the 4th... How many fireworks Can one dude afford? But I think of Peter Pan And the lost boy who shouts “Goodnight, my Neverland” Right before passing out So during the fireworks Every night I shout, “Goodnight, my Rockville!” “Stay safe, my Rockville!” “Goodnight, my Rockville. Goodnight!”
